  On April 24th 2026, to celebrate world curlew day. We will be running birdsong studio competitions at Pateley Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales for the best reproductions of the songs of the European curlew, and also the slender-billed curlew which was sadly recently declared extinct.

  From February 6-8 we will be running   Birdsong Studio   competitions at the   European Curlew Fieldworker Workshop   at Lancaster University for the best reproductions of the songs of European curlew and also the slender-billed curlew, which was sadly recently declared extinct.

Celebrate:
Planet Birdsong's recordists at Kitabi Bird Club in Rwanda received a Macaulay Library Field Grant of $1500 USD to contribute recordings to Cornell Lab of Ornithology's   Big Year of African Sound  in which Planet Birdsong is a partner.

Celebrate:
Planet Birdsong's lead recordist at Kivu Kills Academy Rwanda received a grant of $2000 USD to create conservation clubs and spread citizen science training in bioacoustics data collection in communities around the shores of Lake Kivu.
